As I said in my last post that it would be a race with the cold air for rain to snow and that is the case. Not the 3-6″ as I said at lunch on Tuesday and the models have been HOORRRIIDDDDDD this season even with showing 500mb maps of what is what that I use for making such calls. Anyway, back to the morning commute :
Going to make a bold call (*sarcasm*) and say tomorrow morning’s commute is a disaster. There’s an accident every other day on the parkway in good weather; after a flake of snow, I honestly wonder, are we Georgia? It’s a nightmare. There most likely will be delayed openings for schools as well simply due to the fact that it’s timed perfectly (3/4-7/8am). Temperatures approaching freezing with enhanced evaporation via stronger winds on the roadways can yield icing even with meager snowfall totals of 1 – 2″.
As I told Just Say Julie Goldberg our Librarian who is one of my weather weenies – ice,ice baby on duty at 8AM when she asked about my prediction for tomorrow. The rain will change over to wintry mix and then snow yielding a good 1-2″ for NNJ and NYC metro. Once again LI will see 2-3″ _ sorry but I really am sick of them these past few years – that rant is for another day. The roads will be icy and a delay call I am leaning to for a majority of the schools except schools above Paramus, we don’t do delays we are UBCS!!!!!!!!!!

So be careful in teh AM commute – delayed openings shall be called and we’ll talk about the Sun/Monday storm and next week.
