As I stated in my last post that we would have this pattern we have been stuck in this since mid April of rain/showers, clouds, cool/cold below normal temps to a nice day or  two and then back to this. Well look at the departure from normal temperatures by this chart – ugly – looks like Feb of last year! I am measuring 6 degrees below normal for May again if it were winter we would be an ice box!

That purple spot in NY State had snow Sunday – yes that is right white gold in May – SICK!!!!

This is what is projected to come – IF this was winter I’d be dancing around me house BUT it is May and it will help keep things interesting. The EPO bottomleft index is indicative of cool air  – this is what drove our winters in 2013-14 and 14-15 – why we were so cold- cause it was so negative. In spring it means cooler air and unsettledness for us in the east. The NAO is Negative and usually means a blocking for storms and coolness. IF we can break this block then the real warmth can penetrate in.

THEN IT GETS UGGLLYYY  TO POSSIBLY VERY UGLY FOR THE WEEKEND!!!

GFS STAYS JUST SOUTH OF NYC BUT STILL GIVES US 1″ PLUS OF RAIN WITH 15-20 MPH WINDS

CMC (GEM) IS VERY UGGLLLYYYY – THIS WOULD BE WINDS 20-35MPH, BEACH EROSION AND MOD COASTAL FLOODING WITH 2-3″ OF RAIN

It will be raining with bands of heavy rain and winds 20 mph with minor coastal flooding to possibly moderate. Saturday noonish through Saturday night. Sunday is going to be gray skies and some clearing late in the day but showers may wrap around teh back side of this storm.

1st weekend of the summer of 2016 –  yeaahhh baby !!! Well it doesn’t look like it will be a bang bang weekend peeps – clouds, showers look to threaten Friday through Mon – why you ask?

The indices I posted above the NAO and EPO are teh bandits!

Can this change – absolutely but we need this Nor’easter that is coming this weekend to blow up and reboot the pattern we had back in late March and early April – we got spoiled peeps hands down.

Now for this past winters snow totals – compliments of a great amatuer met my boy Isotherm:

We or I here in H’dale had just above 30″ which is about 4″ below normal. Talk about below Normal – look at NW NJ the snow capitol of the state that averages about 60″ per year and they had a whopping 10-15″ – wow talk about snow starved in such a short distance BUT the last two years they average about 65-70″ – like  I say Big Momma finds a way to even out the score.
