Peeps,

Today is just another rainy cold day of November. Started out with some sleet in Central and NNJ up into the Hudson valley region and if a big IF we had cold air in place we’d be white as a ghost right now -argghhhh!! Snow Queen when will yuo grace us with such with your power, huh?? Cold and rainy, typical latter fall day.

This wetness though does bode well for our winter for if we can get, and it will happen, our two playa’s – cold and moisture – to dance like…… WOOOF WOOOOOOOOOOOF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we’ll be like this

Buried in snow- SNWO QUEEN AND PRINCESS WILL BE……over the moon happy!!

We are hat close.

TURKEY DAY

Well it is the latest it can be there this year and the malls and retailers are not happy – heck in five to seven years many will be gone, out of business as will most malls due to internet buying for merchandise – we have been seeing this steady decline and stores banging up shop all over this great land. We’ll also have one hell of a food shortage on our hands and farms that are above teh 40th parallel to our globe will have a very restricted growing season and will have difficulty growing any crops with teh impending weather cycle (AKA GRAND SOLAR MINIMUM) as history has showed times before – sorry I digress.

Back to the great American Holiday where the Pilgrims and Indians were said to eat and fest on food from teh lands as teh Indians so graciously helped the white man from Britain out and then the SOB’s took their land and shot them with their musket rifles and so on and so forth.

The weather will be cold adn windy but dry. The balloons may not fly sad to say – heck I am not the one  making the call but the guideline set forth about 10-15 years ago dictates this:

The wind gusts are expected to be right at the threshold for flying balloons: sustained winds at 22 mph and gusts expected at 33 mph.

Balloons are grounded when sustained winds hit 23 mph with gusts of 34 mph.

Yikes these are gusts and this spells trouble for the balloons – I want SNOOPY AND WODDSTOCK TO FLY!!!

So it will be cold and blustery on Turkey Day and the Wednesday before – be careful travelling peeps. Winds will delay flights.

Let’s all reflect and give thanks to what we have, not what we don’t have. I for one am certainly grateful for life, God, my family and friends, NH and the students and families I teach and have taught over these 28 years.  My new saying,”The Mugs ….needs HUGS”!!!!

DECEMBER TO REMEMBER??

Well it will start off cold for the first two week or there about setting the mood and tone for the holidays. Will we see snow? Will it be a white xmass? Will Santa be in shorts? Will he need Rudolph’s Red glowing Nose to guide his sleigh? Will ALQ get the Red Rider Bebe Gun he always wanted LOL??? Will Snow Princess get her snow day so she can cuddle up with her latte and shop online all day? Oh, so many questions with so few answers at this time.

Some forecaster are saying a cold start and a warm thaw ten a very cold end to teh month that lasts through February.

We have playa’s on the field that are aligning to a favorable winter pattern with the possibilities of frozen wintry precipitation. We have an attack on the Polar Vortex starting already that may just may if sets up on our side of the globe lock us in a cold pattern for this month. That would definitely increase our chances of snow.

The boys at BAMWX have this for December:

I will concur to this.

Here is Greta, Al G and AOC with his map

S

Maps for the 1st week of Dec

Here it comes

Okay that’s enough of snapshot of the cold for now.

Storms:

Guerci’s, Rich and Carol – snow showers for your Gobble Day

Oh and Sunday – for the travel day back – was

A once powerful storm that since has been shredded like so many this season so far

LAKE EFFECT ALEET

Not too much to write home about on the storm front part as of now.

Winter Forecast Generally Speaking

There is lots of meteorological information with maps and discussions to explain so I will keep this short and simple.

Temperatures:

Cold overall with bouts of severe cold and a couple of thaws as always after such severe cold. I mean possible record breaking cold shots coming in January through February that coudl last three to four days at a time if we get the Atlantic Blocking pattern established which is showed over teh summer. I think we last with teh coldness through March again and possibly a cold bout into Early April!!

White Gold:

I see us being above normal again with snowfall in NNJ in the range of 44″ plus inches this year in the areas that have 34″ as their average. Get our that slanted measuring stick Snow Queen LOL!

NW NJ regions I see with 60″ plus since their normal is in the 46-48″ realm.

Two big storms – one the endish of January say the 20th time frame on and one in late March possibly early April. Big Nor’Easters that could paralyze the Megopolis.

Get out your thermals, flannels, snow boots, firewood, snow blower, shovel and face masks ready !!

Enjoy your Sunday, as I will in front of my fireplace watching the Raiders (my team since 1975) hopefully beat the Jets!
