Snow tonight, then a brief warm up then the hammer gets drooped with cold and frigid cold with possibility of snow and then ba humbug!!

Snow tonight – coating to about 1.5” for NNJ but more in higher elevation lands of Western Bergen and Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties in to LHV – these higher elevation places can see 2-4” – as you move further like Jimbo’s place in Walton NY state they can see 4-6/7” of white cold – interior winter . AS I said in my outlook we will have some of these transition storms and this will be our second of the season from a snow to rain – heck I don’t make the weather just report/interpret things.

Roads will be a slick if out travelling since we have had below freezing temps these past 48 hours.

Looking ahead this week – brief warm up Monday/Tuesday highs get to the low to mid 40’s and the the Hammer gets dropped as a lobe from the PV (Polar Vortex) swing through and set up camp just North of the Great Lakes. Temps Friday morning will be in the single digits and for some areas with snow cover below zero! This arctic blast will run from mid-week until about the 18^th/19^th.

Weekend into Monday: As the Polar Vortex pulls away we may see a snowstorm on its heels.

Hate to be the bearer of such but the models in the last 24 hours have been taken over by this guy:

 

HEAT MISER – if you see him do me a favor and stick him in your freezer!!!! THE SE ridge looks to take over once the PV moves out – the shame is we have nothing being modeled to lock in this cold air and stormy pattern as of now. Things look to go to above normal to normal temps over the xmass holiday week into the New Year.  I hope we see better trends in the models over the next few days in relation to the long Range.

 

SO let’s enjoy these next 10 -12 days and we’ll see what BIG MOMMA can do after this for us. Lets all pray for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
