Okay some say I get overzealous with my calls and it was a bust or the storm was nothing. Understand it is easy to play Monday morning QB or as they say hindsight is 20/20 but when you confer (with pro mets not the ones from TV please, read and study the maps and radar screens the call was there. What screwed us over was the cold temperature needed to be 2 -3 degrees colder as they were in western NY but never got here at that temperature (28-31*). IF so we have had instant stickage with icing from the left over wetness from the rain.
We WOULD HAVE ALL HAD A DO (DELAYED OPENING)IF and I SAY IF THIS WERE THE CASE!!
AND SOME DID BOOOOOM!!
Anyway I had reports of 3″ in West Milford, 1.5 inches in Hillsdale and 2″ in Cedar Grove and Oakland so I was not that far off from my 2-4″ call. The city just sucks for marginal storms plain and simple.
Rain and Warm Up, then
Rain manana and warm temps as Friday and Saturday as temps in teh city get to 57*ish. WHo cares it will be raining not sunny so to me that isnt a “warm day” as they make it out to be.
Heavy rains and just think if we had today’s cold air mass in place what could have been……………………
but
ICE ICE BABY, THEN
We have teh AL Q birthday storm and it looks to be an icy one from what the euro is an dhas been showing for teh past two days now. Can it change yes, worse yes, better yes and we have to see what this weekend rainstorm does to affect this storm. If this storm deepens and pumps the North Atlantic Ridge called the NAO then things could get worse. If not then things arent so bad. Here is VANILLA ICE’s EURO MODEL VERSION of this storm
IF this were to occur it would be a crippling ice storm.
Some Snow before this 1-2″ more in the LHV
A 25 -30 mile jog by this storm would be even worse.

April 6-7 – say what?? Yes 1982 type snowstorm.
The looks of a long and hard winter as i stated in my very brief winter outlook.
Oh and temps after the storm:
Take about 3-5 plus degrees off each maps temperatures if we have a snow pack of 12″ or more.
