Heat and humidity has been crazy – August and Rocktober ( I call it this) switched places – we have a massive positive in the Sothern Oscillation Index that has overridden/overwhelmed the pattern and with the help of the hcanes – 6 major this season so all of us have been off (I called 1-4 YIKES!) – Ophelia is the latest and is about to hit my wife’s motherland of Irrrrlin (Ireland) which will be their Sandy!!! Anyway we have one more bout with warmth end of the week weekend with highs in the mid 70’s and then we flip next week. It was all on course for mid-month and the hcanes and SOI index went thru da ruf!!
Wildfires
Momma Mia this has been disastrous. N Cali and wine country is decimated. 3 dozen deaths and counting how awful. How did it happen – weather wise they had a wet and much AN snowfall last winter that produced great undergrowth coupled with a desert like spring and summer and wamo you have a powder keg. Only nature can stop this beast.
Flip
We have a MJO phase 4 going into 5 over the East Indian Ocean which will stick a trough over the eastern US and bring with it cold and possible flakes or frozen precip. Time frame 25thish.

Mr Frosty
Tomorrow morning some of the colder ruburbs (West Milford, Sussex regions) may see frost as Tuesday morning. Amazing how a week ago it was 85*. Other areas will be in the 408 range to upper 30’s.
Three’s
We have had in the past couple of weeks 3 earthquakes and 3 volcanic eruptions with a few more still rumbling and ready to blow their lids – Solar has ceased its flares and coronal holes for 7 days now so activity looks to pick up, possibly if the correlation is there.
