Peeps,

48 hours ago I wrote about the possibility of a major Nor’easter. Hmm has anyone heard from TV mets yet? Lonnie? Janice?

Me neither but you have from me and IT IS COMING!!!

All hands of deck peeps.

Yes a MAJOR Nor’easter that will run from later Sunday night through early Tuesday AM/Morning for the entire NY Metro Area, NNJ, NWNJ and Jersey Shore.

I am telling you if you have a generator fire it up and get fuel, anything that can be blown around take inside, fuel up your snow blower to in NNJ. This is not going to be Sandy BUT it will be serious with power outages, moderate to major coastal flooding (Northern shore of NJ say Pt. Pleasant up to Raritan bay, tropical force winds and gusts entire region but worse at the shore, heavy rains and you guessed it white gold and sleet for NNJ and areas of higher elevation like Mahwah and West Milford and the Morris and Sussex county area. Whew that was a lot of weather specifics.

This is a dynamic storm that has a moisture fetch from the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.

Look at all the severe weather down South – Tornadoes recorded in over 3 states in the red shading above

NJ Shore:

Major Beach erosion

Coastal Flooding: Moderate to possibly major coastal flooding with tides 2/3’ to 5’ above high tide with an easterly then north easterly wind. Worst is high tide Monday night

Wave Heights – Yikes

Wave Height

Winds: 35-45mph sustained (1 minute in duration) gusts over 65mph plus!!

Rain: 2-4”

Snow: Nyet

Power outages: Likely

NNJ:

Winds 20-30 sustained, gusts to 50-55 mph plus

Rain 2-3”

Snow and Sleet 2-4” depending on location N & W 3” plus

Flooding: Hoboken, Jersey City, Edgewater – all along the Hudson will see storm surge of 2-3’

Move your cars to higher ground!!

The 3K NAM hi res has a ridiculous snow/sleet map – WOWZA!!

Power outages: Likely

NYC Metro/LI

Winds: 25 -35 MPH Sustained, 50 – 60 mph gusts

Rain 2-3”

Snow/Sleet – Trace to 1”

Flooding: Storm surge about 2’ for all tributaries to NY Harbor = Lower Manhattan/Battery

NYC & LI shores – major beach erosion, coastal flooding moderate

Power outages: Likely

WIND MAP EURO

SICK WINDS ABOVE HOLY FRIGGIN MOLLY!! These are in knots!!!

55knots =63 mph

Peeps – this going to be a serious storm and one not to take lightly by any means.

Take precautions and spread the word again. IF this were snow we’d see 20 -36″ no problem if we had cold air – what a shame.

Travel on Monday – not happening in the air.

Update will be given in the AM and later Sunday again if needed.

This just in from the National Weather Service

Nws latest disco…
NAM/GFS indicating low-level cold air damming signature undercutting
750-850 hpa warm nose Sunday night through Monday aft over the
region. Based on strong dynamics and deep enough cold layer well N&W
of NYC Mon…sleet could mix in briefly at the coast…with more
prolonged rain/sleet or even plain sleet across NW hills Mon
morn/aft. A light sleet accumulation is possible across interior
portions of NE NJ…Lower Hud…and Southern Ct…particularly the
NW hills.

It is going to be more you watch – watch the panic and scramble tomorrow.

School closing – this is going to be interesting for sure 40/60 shot in NNJ.
