May = BN, Nor, Pollen, Pole and Summer Prelude?

Last time I wrote was last month April13th to be exact. I said then we would have a great stretch of weather and we did just that. As we turn the page to May today that stretch of weather we so embraced is gone that’s right gone. Not for good but for the 1st 7-10 days of May. Why you ask and that is the question due to the stupid and stubborn NAO that is N and the AO that is N (N= Negative) as well. The couplet that we so needed in Dec through March never came to fruition.
On a side note speaking of my favorite season of the year -WINTER- NOAA just announced this week with much likes fanfare than Prince’s passing (he was awesome as a musician and a person hands down – better than MJ and did he get the womans MADONNEE – Shelia E, Apolonia, Vanity, and Sheena Easton!)

Statement released on Thursday 4-28:
NOAA revised the snowfall total from 26.8 to 27.5 for JAN 23 2016 and the NEW All-time snowfall record.

So in retrospect this winter had the tri-fecta:
- largest snowfall
- coldest NYC temperature in over 20 years
- warmest Nov-Mar period on record

So we will have below normal temperatures for the next. 7-10 days – 40’s at night and mid -upper 50’s to low 60’s during the day with a NE fetch wind to keep things raw and wet.

NOR = Nor’easter
Well, the models are saying there might be the possibility of a Nor’easter come the end of this week – Thursday is what the time frame is right now. Let’s see if this comes to fruition – watch it will because it is May and not Feb or March!!
Pollen

Pollen this week will be dampened by the cold wet weather thank God but shall make a return next week
Pole
Now that we have entered the last full month of spring and school – yes that is right peeps the days are getting longer and the time in school for all is getting shorter!
This I saw on the Sunday morning news show – the May Pole. I never knew what the heck this was or why it was celebrated – as a kid it was always compared or signified by the cold war and the Russians display of arms and power on May Day. I am sure those who grew up during the cold war remember this. But May Pole is a signal that spring is in full bloom and to celebrate the season there is a celebration around this pole. Yes, it may sound weird or corny but this has been a tradition for a millennium that is still celebrated by Europeans – Meizys did this back in the day and I am sure he celebrates this incognito today! and even Americans.
Will May be the Summer prelude month? Only time will tell but I shall be releasing my own Summer Forecast and Hurricane forecast in the next week.
In the meantime get out the long pants, sweatshirts and rain jackets because we are going to need them here in the Northeast this week.
