Nice snow Sunday night – measured about .5” which is the first accumulated snow for the season – beats the hell out of last year so far when I was in a t-shirt and short as it was spring in December. We were 20-30 degrees above normal on some days – guess what happens on Thursday and Friday we go the other way – talk about a boomerang! Mother Nature balancing out.

White gold tonight about a coating to an inch.

 

 

The fun starts as the arctic front slides through and we may have some snow squalls incoming Wed into Thursday at this time.

Then we get the hammer, gauntlet dropped on us peeps.

HOLY MOTHER OF COLD – this will rival the lover’s day arctic outbreak earlier this year – don’t recall hmmmmm. Feb 14^th we reached Negative digits for NNJ and NYC got down to 2 or 3 degrees. Hadn’t been that cold since 1994 with the great arctic January outbreak.

The cold will not hang on but be transient – again nothing to lock it in – IF we did then MOMMA MIA we’d be in for it!

Wind Chill Friday morning will range from 0-15 below in our area!

Anyway, our first true snowstorm of the season Friday night into Saturday morning – it may end as rain (you know the term by now – transition storm) – I know how the H could it go from 16 degrees to 45 degrees – the storm slides east and then one cuts to our North so it pumps up warm Atlantic Ocean air. If this were Feb no problem we’d be all snow but it is early in the season and with the warmth of the Hotlantic from tis summer we’ll feel its effects.

Again Jimbo may see 8-10” in Delaware County and NYC may see 2-4 and NNJ and LHV see 3-6” – some higher elevations in Passaic, Warren, Sussex counties could go 4-8”.

Then we warm on Sunday (about 50’s? uggghh this sucks I know) and then another arctic blast comes in for M – W and we may see another storm during this next time frame Hopefully Tuesday into Wednesday.

 

Long Range – we look to go Normal to days of above Normal temps from about Xmass to New Years – 1^st week of Jan and then we flip back – maybe sooner like the end of Dec (29-31^st) so we’ll see. Could be a 2014 January and February if all goes well and my forecast will then verify!
