Folks,

Happy Meteorological Winter. Today is the first day of Met Winter as it is so termed and the question is are we ready for what is in store?? I sure as heck know I am, I was born ready ready and you know why? Causa my bdayah is in a tis montha HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!! The day equates to the age we all get our card for freedom in the great state of NJ!!

And today marks the official end to Hcane season – a quick look back:

So far This Month:

November Preciptation type Amount
10 Graupel & Snow Flurries
15&16 Snow & Wintry Mix 7.8″
21 Sleet & Snow Trace
28 Flurries
30 Snow Shower, Snow,Sleet & Rain Showers Mix

We have recorded one of the coldest Novembers on record and snowiest for the Continental US

A BIG EQ in Anchorage yesterday – and why again = LOW, NO SOLAR – we will see more of these and Volcanic Activity over the next solar cycle = 11 years plus maybe 2 cycles = 22 years

And now this……………………

Here is the why:

So what will December be like?

Below Normal temperatures by about 2 degrees (+/-.5 degrees)

Snowfall – Above Normal by about 6″

I know I have called for a Mammoth pattern in later November and it is shaping up but there will be a break early like this weekend and then after the 13thish but but build back around the 17thish from the latest looks to run through early January. There is an attack as we call it on the Polar Vortex due to what are called wave breaks – one by teh Scandinavians and one bu the Siberian/Alaskans – called heat pole ward transport or flux. It takes the warm water vapor and sends it pole ward to the North Pole and then up into teh atmosphere like 5-10 miles up and this disrupts the cold air up there spreading it out like a pizza dough for a pie is a good analogy. This will then elongate the polar vortex and spread the cold air south of it main source region the north pole and arctic.

The storm potential for the 5th looks to be strung out, a no burger, ridge out west is to flat to help bring spin up a storm (bust on my part ingredients were there but needed some magic beans to get the ridge to grow in amplitude), Friday the 7th we may some light snow and snow showers as an appetizer,  but the 8-10th time frame looks good as of now and could be the Big Kahuna I have been alluding to – that could easily be a snow day number deuce or one for schools in NNJ depending.  The synoptic set up is there for an Major East Coast Storm.

This Ensemble map shows the picture of possible storm locations – confusing but looks all those nice colors off the coast where the purple loops are = snowstorm!!

Great evolution here – will it come together to be a prolific east coast storm? Ingredients are there – Sunday/ Monday time frame peeps

Mark this time frame for an east coast storm – January 19-21 – high energy cycle time frame.

So rain tonight what else is new and warm tomorrow but rains will linger most of the day.. Love how we went from TV met forecasts of 64* at 7AM o 62* at 6PM to 60* at 11PM to now 58* this morning. So get out your xmas outside stuff – finish it off cause Santa may get buried next weekend!!!

Rain Amounts for Sunday:

Updates to come.
